Our secret to sustainability communications: just ask…

Lundquist CSR Online AwardsIn much of the developed and urban world, digital is making life faster, more interconnected and more data-dependent. Our interactions have become more informal and yet more mediated thanks to the emergence of new communication platforms with their streams, algorithms and networks of connections.

What does this trend mean for sustainability and corporate responsibility (CR), concepts that (should) revolve around relations and interactions? How is it changing the way people engage on social, environmental and governance themes?

That’s a question we at Lundquist have been asking since 2007 as part of our CSR Online Awards. The 1,600 responses we’ve received over the years have provided illuminating insights. And it’s time to reach out again to all those involved in sustainability – whether professionally or personally – to take the pulse of how engagement is evolving in a digital age.

Have your say: join the survey now.

Our study comes at a fascinating time. The inclusion of materiality materiality (determining what’s relevant within sustainability for a single company) into sustainability reporting frameworks has set off a frenzy of activity in companies. Alongside the serial engagers, many others are now actually coming out of their shell and engaging both internally and with society.

So it’s a perfect time to ask people how this process is changing their expectations of sustainability and CR communications. After all the excitement around materiality, after the stakeholder panels, employee workshops and expert interviews, how do you expect sustainability to involve? What is driving trust in online CR communications? And how would you like the engagement process to continue?

So, it’s time for you all to come out of your shells a little and share your views. We’ll come back to you with our findings in the coming weeks so don’t forget to leave an email address at the end of the survey.

Getting left behind? CSR communications in Switzerland undermined by low transparency

The performance of Swiss companies in the 7th edition of the CSR Online Awards is undermined by a lack of transparency, an issue that has not improved since our previous edition of the research two years ago.

The top of the ranking of 57 leading Swiss companies – published today in association with Bilanz magazine – remains little changed from the past. Nestlé maintains its dominance in the top spot (63.5 points), comfortably beating Roche (55.25) and Credit Suisse (52.5) into 2nd and 3rd place respectively. But the wider picture is marred by the fact that a majority of the companies we studied don’t meet basic levels of non-financial transparency on environmental, social and governance topics, either online or in formal reports.

Deadline for Webranking evaluations set for Aug. 31

On Thursday August 31st we will be closing the 2017-2018 edition of Webranking for the year, the annual ranking measuring the quality of online financial and corporate communications. The Italian, Swiss, and Austrian editions of Webranking by Comprend are carried out and coordinated by Lundquist.

This is the last call for companies to notify us of any significant changes made to their websites during the month of August, by sending us, via e-mail, a list of links to the pages that have been altered.
